Common questions常见问题
During a dermal filler appointment, the process typically involves:
- Consultation: Discuss concerns, goals, and medical history with a qualified provider.
- Pre-treatment assessment: Photographs may be taken for reference and comparison during follow-up appointments.
- Numbing: A topical numbing cream may be applied. Most HA fillers also incorporate lidocaine to help minimize pain.
- Cleansing: Thoroughly cleanse the treatment area to prepare for injection.
- Dermal filler injection: Administer injections with a fine needle or cannula.
- Aftercare instructions: Refrain from touching or rubbing the area that received treatment. Your provider may also recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive heat for 24–48 hours. After your injection, some mild redness, bruising, and swelling are normal and will subside in a few days to a week after the treatment.
- Follow-up appointments: Assess results and consider touch-up injections.
Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture, helping restore volume, enhance contours, and support a smoother, more hydrated appearance. Over time, the filler is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body.
Not necessarily. While the filler itself is gradually absorbed over time, subcision releases the scar tissue pulling the skin downward and can stimulate new collagen formation as the area heals. Because of this remodeling, treated scars may still look smoother and less depressed than they did before treatment, even after the filler has worn off.
Yes. Depending on your scar pattern, subcision may be combined with laser resurfacing, microneedling, or other scar treatments. A combination approach may produce more balanced improvement than relying on one treatment alone.
