What it is
Xerf is a monopolar radio-frequency platform from Cynosure Lutronic, used to tighten and lift skin without surgery or injections. At Rejuuv Medi Spa it replaces Forma.
It is the first multifrequency monopolar RF system, combining a 6.78 MHz and a 2 MHz frequency. Using two frequencies rather than one lets the energy be placed at different depths, from the surface layers down to the deeper structural tissue including the SMAS, the layer a surgical facelift addresses.
How it works
Controlled heat causes existing collagen to contract, which reads as an immediate firming, and prompts fibroblasts to lay down new collagen over the following months. Histology studies have shown thickening and tightening of collagen bundles at several tissue depths.
The handpiece reads the skin's impedance in real time and adjusts delivery accordingly, with three depth settings and ten intensity levels, so treatment is matched to your skin rather than run to a fixed recipe.
Comfort and downtime
Integrated cryogen cooling holds the surface temperature down while the energy goes deeper, so no topical numbing is needed. Most people describe it as a warm massage.
