What Is HArmonyCa? How It Works, Results & What to Expect in Markham, Toronto & North York

A hybrid injectable that lifts right away and builds collagen over the following months. Here's how it works, when you'll see results and what to expect.

The world of medical aesthetics keeps evolving, and HArmonyCa brings a different approach to facial rejuvenation. If you have noticed mild to moderate skin laxity or a subtle loss of facial definition, you may be looking for a way to refresh your appearance without looking overdone. HArmonyCa™ by Allergan Aesthetics is an injectable designed for exactly these concerns. Health Canada authorised it in 20261, and it is now available at Rejuuv Medi Spa in Markham, Toronto (Yorkville) and North York.

The treatment is designed for people who want to improve skin quality and restore structure at the same time. Unlike approaches that focus only on adding volume, HArmonyCa works in two phases: it lifts and contours the face right away, and it encourages your body to rebuild its own collagen over the following months.

The Science: What Is HArmonyCa and Dual-Action Technology?

HArmonyCa is a dual-action injectable made with Allergan's patented DART technology1. Each pre-filled syringe contains two components blended together: hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). It is placed in the deep dermis or just below it1, where the two ingredients work on two different timelines.

The hyaluronic acid acts immediately, giving a subtle lift and hydration. The CaHA microspheres stay in place and gently stimulate the skin's fibroblasts. Over the coming months this can stimulate collagen production, which may improve skin firmness and texture.

HArmonyCa vs. Traditional Dermal Fillers: What's the Difference?

Traditional dermal fillers, such as standard hyaluronic acid gels, are mainly used to add volume in a specific area or soften deeper creases, for example in the lips or under the eyes. They give immediate contour, but they don't change the underlying structure or elasticity of the skin, and the body gradually breaks them down over time.

HArmonyCa belongs to a newer group of hybrid injectables. Rather than only filling a space, it is designed to support skin quality and firmness as well, combining immediate volume with longer-term collagen stimulation in a single treatment.

HArmonyCa for Sagging Skin and Jowls: Can It Help?

As skin ages, collagen and elastin decline, and the lower face can lose structure, leading to a softer jawline and the beginnings of jowls. HArmonyCa is used in the mid-to-lower face and along the sides of the face, such as the area in front of the ears and the jawline.

By placing the product in these support zones, our medical team can create a gentle lift that may soften the appearance of jowls. Because it reinforces the sides of the face, it can improve facial contours without adding bulk to the front of the face.

HArmonyCa for Natural Results: Looking Like Yourself Again

Many people hesitate to try aesthetic treatments because they worry about looking puffy or unlike themselves. HArmonyCa is designed for natural-looking results: the initial lift from the hyaluronic acid is subtle, and the CaHA works through your body's own collagen production.

As the months pass and your body builds new collagen, your skin may look firmer and smoother over time.

When Will I See Results From HArmonyCa Treatments?

HArmonyCa works on two timelines. Because it contains a smooth hyaluronic acid gel, you may notice a subtle improvement in volume, hydration and lift right after your appointment.

The longer-term changes develop over the following weeks and months. As the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres stimulate the deeper layers of the skin, collagen production gradually increases, and improvements in skin thickness, elasticity and firmness may continue to develop.

How Long Does HArmonyCa Last?

Allergan reports that results can last up to 18 months1. The hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed by the body over the first few months, while the collagen the treatment stimulates continues to support the skin.

How long your results last depends on individual factors such as metabolism, lifestyle, age and the condition of your skin, as well as on technique. To maintain results, our team often suggests a touch-up about once a year, depending on your goals.

Is HArmonyCa Better Than Sculptra?

Rather than one being better than the other, HArmonyCa and Sculptra take two different approaches. Sculptra doesn't give the immediate volume of a hyaluronic acid injectable; it rebuilds collagen gradually, over several months and several treatment sessions.

HArmonyCa may suit people who want an immediate effect together with longer-term collagen stimulation, although more than one session may be needed. Its hyaluronic acid component can also be dissolved if necessary, whereas biostimulators like Sculptra can't be dissolved with hyaluronidase. In your consultation we'll assess your anatomy and timeline and help you choose the option that fits.

What Is a Hybrid Dermal Filler?

A hybrid dermal filler combines two active ingredients in one product. Traditionally, providers chose between a conventional filler for immediate volume and a biostimulator for longer-term collagen building, and patients often spaced these treatments months apart.

A hybrid filler like HArmonyCa bridges that gap. With collagen-stimulating CaHA microspheres embedded in a hydrating hyaluronic acid gel, it addresses volume loss and skin laxity in the same appointment.

How Long Does HArmonyCa Take to Stimulate Collagen?

Collagen stimulation begins after treatment as the CaHA microspheres interact with the deeper tissues. Because building collagen is a gradual process, the visible results take time.

Improvements in skin density and elasticity typically become visible over about 3 to 6 months; Allergan reports an increase in collagen in treated areas at 180 days1. During that time your body lays down new type I and type III collagen fibres, which take over the support role as the initial gel is gradually absorbed.

HArmonyCa Side Effects and Downtime

HArmonyCa is a minimally invasive treatment with limited downtime. As with any injectable, temporary swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising can occur at the injection sites.

These reactions are usually temporary, although how long they last varies. HArmonyCa contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, for comfort during the procedure, and our clinical team will give you aftercare instructions to help minimise swelling and bruising.

Cost of HArmonyCa Treatment in Ontario

The cost of HArmonyCa varies from person to person. Every face has its own structure and degree of laxity, so the amount of product needed differs.

At your assessment at Rejuuv Medi Spa, we'll give you a clear quote based on your treatment plan and the number of syringes needed. We aim for balanced results and won't recommend more product than you need.

Booking Your HArmonyCa Consultation in the GTA: Questions to Ask Your Injector

A good aesthetic plan starts with an open conversation with a qualified professional. Before any hybrid injectable treatment, a medical consultation should review your health history, assess your skin and determine whether you're a suitable candidate.

When you book a consultation at our Markham, North York or Yorkville clinic, bring any questions you have. Here are a few to start with:

  • Based on my skin laxity and facial structure, am I a good candidate for a hybrid filler?
  • Which areas of my lower face or jawline would benefit most from this dual-action approach?
  • What should I do before and after my appointment to minimise bruising or swelling?
  • How could HArmonyCa fit into my long-term skin plan?
